Job Description:

Provide journeyman level skills in construction and maintenance including electrical for the Applied Research Laboratories.

Job Details:


Responsibilities

  • New construction and remodel projects.

  • Replacement and retro fitting of lamps and fixtures.

  • Adding distribution panels, transformers and outlets for lab needs.

  • Working on special projects for the different groups.

  • Trouble shooting electrical problems at the lab and lake.

  • Other related functions as assigned.


Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Five years of demonstrated ability working as a licensed electrician. Three years demonstrated ability as a journeyman in that field. Flexibility to work in other fields of construction such as assisting in building construction. Demonstrated ability to use tools required for the job. Ability to read blueprints and layout jobs. The successful candidate will possess the ability to follow through and complete jobs assigned and use construction tools and equipment safely. Must be able to operate all tools associated with the electrical field. Should be able to operate pickup trucks with trailers, scissor lifts, man lifts and forklifts.Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.


Preferred Qualifications

More than five years working as a licensed electrician. Have Master's License as an electrician. Experience with commercial/industrial electrical installations.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).


Salary Range

$26,592-$38,642+/negotiable depending on qualifications
