Facilities Management at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the DIN Supervisor (full-time, 12 month) position. The DIN Supervisor will provide field supervision and leadership to the Do It Now Crew (DIN) in responding to customer needs while also performing various maintenance tasks. The Do It Now crew will provide 24/7 support at ODU and scheduling will be a vital part of this position. Skills within the DIN crew will be multi discipline and not specialized with cross training being required. To perform inspections of equipment and make minor repairs or adjustments and needed to equipment and provide technical guidance to staff as needed to ensure equipment is maintained properly.

Required Qualifications: Considerable knowledge in one or more of the following trades: HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing. Working knowledge of overall general maintenance in the HVAC, electrical and plumbing fields. Working knowledge of trade hand tools used in testing electrical devices and aligning shafts and pumps, etc. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks such as setting work schedule, ordering material, supervision, and providing assistance to staff. Several years' experience in performing preventive maintenance and/or repairs on light commercial mechanical equipment at an institutional setting. Considerable experience in supervision of various trades.

Special Licenses, Registration or Certification : Valid driver’s license in good standing with insurable driving record.

Additional Considerations: Considerable supervision experience in the mechanical trade. Master license in one of the mechanical trades. Training or considerable experience in preventive maintenance and mechanical maintenance repair in HVAC and/or one or more trades such as the electrical or plumbing fields. Background in asbestos removal.

Conditions of Employment: Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings. The holder of this position is also subject to serving on a schedule to be called back to work during non-work hours. In such an event, this position is required to respond to after-hours calls and will carry an ODU cell phone on a rotational basis. While serving as the after-hours call-back person, the individual must remain available by telephone, text, or pager while off site and respond to any message within fifteen (15) minutes. This is an open until filled recruitment. This recruitment may close after the five-day required posting period when a suitable pool of applicants has been generated.
