The Department of Water Resources (DWR) offers a paid apprenticeship program that can lead to a fulfilling and lucrative career in the hydroelectric industry.
The program combines hands-on-learning, classroom study, and home study
with supervised on-the-job training for the following: 
  • Hydroelectric Plant Electrician Apprentice
  • Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic Apprentice
  • Hydroelectric Plant Operator Apprentice
  • Utility Craftsworker Apprentice, Water Resource
Apprenticeship Program Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or educational equivalent
  • Successfully complete the DWR apprentice civil service examination, apply for the position by submitting an application through the job advertisement, and successfully be selected through the interview process
